BUshy Park Tarapuruhi
An 89 hectare pristine native forest, set just 25 minutes north of Whanganui, this beautiful historic place has a gorgeous early 1900's homestead and a selection of forest and wetland walks all behind a predator proof fence. With stunning giant rata, nikau and mamaku ferns, this forest has a different feel to my usual bush walks at home. Even with the occasional sulfur-crested cockatoo calling out overhead, the sound of the hihi and tieke fills the forest. Naturally, the toutouwai (robins) became a firm favourite during my time at Bushy Park, a main feature in the photos below.
